Snow clearing for seniors and people with disabilities in Toronto

All sidewalks are cleared of snow in Scarborough.
There is no reason for seniors or persons with disabilities to register for sidewalk snow removal in these areas.

In Etobicoke and North York, all sidewalks are cleared of snow with
the exception of these wards: (11, 12, 13, 17 – current Etobicoke York) (15, 16, 25, 26 – current North York).

There is NO reason for seniors or disabled persons living in Etobicoke or North York outside of these wards to register for sidewalk snow removal.
For the following wards: (14, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32 – current Toronto & East York) because of limited accessibility of the City’s snow removal equipment, not all sidewalks can be cleared of snow.

Seniors and persons with disabilities from these former municipalities need to renew every year for free snow removal. Transportation does not have a cut-off date for accepting applications.
The City only clears snow, when there has been an accumulation of:

• 8 cm or more on high pedestrian volume sidewalks (arterial roads, transit routes, school zones) in Nov & April
• 2cm or more on high pedestrian volume sidewalks during the months of Dec, Jan, Feb & March
• 8 cm or more has fallen on low volume pedestrian sidewalks (collector & local roads) throughout the winter
