DESCRIPTION:This public offering of the Foundations of Disability Inclusion workshop is a 2-hour virtual event in English over Zoom where you can gain a better understanding of disability and access as integral to effective Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion work\, facilitated by disabled and Deaf educators with lived experience.   \n  \nLearning Objectives include:  \n\nRecognize disability as part of human diversity \nUnderstand Independent Living as a fundamental shift in society \nDevelop a common understanding of disability frameworks including disability justice \nExplore ways to actively practice access and inclusion to dismantle ableism \n\n  \nTake this workshop if you:   \n\nReside in or work in Ontario \n\n\nAre interested as an individual and not together as an organization  \n\n\nNew staff at an organization that has taken the main workshop before  \n\n\nHave taken the main workshop before and would like a refresher  \n\n\nWould like to learn about disability inclusion and access and how to cultivate an effective EDI culture \n\n  \nSeats can be purchased at any range between $25 – $35 per seat OR two seats for a fixed $30. DESCRIPTION:Racialized Disabled Writers Workshop\n\nWhen: Sept 24\, 6:30 pm-8:00 pm\nWhere: Over Zoom\n\nJoin the Centre for Independent Living in Toronto for an evening of writing with a group of Racialized Disabled writers. Beginners and those curious about writing are welcome! This session will be facilitated by CILT staff with lived experience. Spaces are limited. Please let us know about any other access needs when you register.  \nUp With Women clients undergo a year-long intensive program of career and entrepreneurship-based one-on-one customized coaching\, in-depth personality and emotional assessment tools\, group-support sessions\, and soft-skills development. We partner clients with International Coaching Federation-certified professional coaches for twice-monthly career coaching. All coaches provide their services at pro-bono\, thereby allowing Up With Women to deliver high quality service at a very low cost. One-on-one coaching is also supplemented by group peer learning sessions and referrals to other community resources\, such as housing\, legal and immigration. In addition to our main coaching program\, graduates are offered the opportunity to continue their career development journey through such initiatives as our Community Leadership Program and a customized Employment and Entrepreneurship Development Program.   \nEligibility: \nIndividuals who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply. There is an interview process to determine best fit.  \n\nIncome: You are earning or receiving some kind of regular income (social assistance\, a job\, etc.)\, but are living below or around the poverty line. \nHealth & Safety: You have reached a point of stability in health and safety where you can commit to a year-long\, intensive program. You have other supports in place. \nFluency: You have an English or French proficiency of LINC 6 or higher \nTo note: Clients must be 18+ but there is no upper age cap and seniors are welcome to apply. DESCRIPTION:CILT Peer Connect is a monthly virtual peer support opportunity for a cross-disability group of adults. In every session we:  \n-Check in \n-Connect around a particular topic  \n-Consult and connect with peers about issues and experiences related to disability  \nThe group focusses on wellness strategies and will often try out different stress reduction activities together like yoga\, meditation\, and tai chi.  \n\n\nThis group operates within the independent living philosophy.  Group guidelines and discussion topics will be sent out when you register. Please be ready to participate in activity and discussion.   \nLet us know about any access needs when you register.
