DESCRIPTION:Disabled Writers’ Drop-In\nThis monthly virtual meet up is a chance for a cross-disability group of writers to connect and write in community. Beginners and experienced writer’s are welcome! This is a chance to spend an hour together to make some room for our writing.\nWhether you use voice to text\, a pen and paper\, a brailler\, typing or bringing someone with you to transcribe when writing\, all methods of playing with words are welcome!\n\nThis program occurs the first Wednesday of every month from 2pm-3pm.\n Each Drop-In Includes:\n -Opening go around sharing the successes and challenges of our writing this month\n -20-25 minutes of writing time together. IL philosophy believes we have the right to take control of our own lives by exercising the right to examine options\, make choices\, take risks and even make mistakes.   \n  \nThis group is grounded in principles of Disability Justice\, including the principles of anti-oppression and of interdependence. We recognize that intersecting identities inform lived experience and welcome this experience in Peer Connect.   \n  \nGroup Agreements and discussion topics will be sent out when you register. You will receive a reminder email one week before the program and a zoom link the day before. Please be ready to participate in activity and discussion.  \nLet us know about any access needs when you register. There is an option to join these sessions by phone. DESCRIPTION:Racialized Disabled Writers Workshop\n\nWhen: Sept 24\, 6:30 pm-8:00 pm\nWhere: Over Zoom\n\nJoin the Centre for Independent Living in Toronto for an evening of writing with a group of Racialized Disabled writers. Beginners and those curious about writing are welcome! This session will be facilitated by CILT staff with lived experience. Spaces are limited. Please register by Sept 18.\nIn this workshop participants will be invited to introduce themselves\, discuss different kinds of writing and sharing stories\, do some writing with prompts\, and have the option to share the first drafts that are created during writing time. We will end by reading a poem by a Disabled Racialized writer.  This program is only for participants who are Black\, Indigenous\, or People of Colour who have Disabilities.\nAccess: ASL-English interpretation will be available if need is confirmed by September 18th registration deadline. DESCRIPTION:This public offering of the Foundations of Disability Inclusion workshop is a 2-hour virtual event in English over Zoom where you can gain a better understanding of disability and access as integral to effective Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion work\, facilitated by disabled and Deaf educators with lived experience.   \n  \nLearning Objectives include:  \n\nRecognize disability as part of human diversity \nUnderstand Independent Living as a fundamental shift in society \nDevelop a common understanding of disability frameworks including disability justice \nExplore ways to actively practice access and inclusion to dismantle ableism \n\n  \nTake this workshop if you:   \n\nReside in or work in Ontario \n\n\nAre interested as an individual and not together as an organization  \n\n\nNew staff at an organization that has taken the main workshop before  \n\n\nHave taken the main workshop before and would like a refresher  \n\n\nWould like to learn about disability inclusion and access and how to cultivate an effective EDI culture \n\n  \nSeats can be purchased at any range between $25 – $35 per seat OR two seats for a fixed $30. DESCRIPTION:Disabled Writers’ Drop-In\nThis monthly virtual meet up is a chance for a cross-disability group of writers to connect and write in community. Beginners and experienced writer’s are welcome! This is a chance to spend an hour together to make some room for our writing.\nWhether you use voice to text\, a pen and paper\, a brailler\, typing or bringing someone with you to transcribe when writing\, all methods of playing with words are welcome!\n\nThis program occurs the first Wednesday of every month from 2pm-3pm.\n Each Drop-In Includes:\n -Opening go around sharing the successes and challenges of our writing this month\n -20-25 minutes of writing time together. DESCRIPTION:Disabled Writers’ Drop-In\nThis monthly virtual meet up is a chance for a cross-disability group of writers to connect and write in community. Beginners and experienced writer’s are welcome! This is a chance to spend an hour together to make some room for our writing.\nWhether you use voice to text\, a pen and paper\, a brailler\, typing or bringing someone with you to transcribe when writing\, all methods of playing with words are welcome!\n\nThis program occurs the first Wednesday of every month from 2pm-3pm.\n Each Drop-In Includes:\n -Opening go around sharing the successes and challenges of our writing this month\n -20-25 minutes of writing time together. SUMMARY:Building Emotional Toolkits for Parents with Disabilities: A 3 Part Workshop Series
DESCRIPTION:Being a parent is no easy task and parenting with a disability adds its own layers of complexity to the mix. Add to your emotional toolbox with this psychoeducational and interactive virtual workshop series facilitated by Family Services Toronto\, Vibrant Community Healthcare and the Centre for Independent Living in Toronto’s Parenting with a Disability Network.   \nFacilitators will lead a cross-disability group of parent participants through activities and discussions designed to build a deeper understanding of key emotions and their functions and to support building our toolkits for tuning in and responding to our emotions as parents.   \nSpaces are limited so we ask that participants please commit to attending all three sessions.
