Ode to Our Everyday Objects
Oh how we love our every day objects
Toothbrush
Keys
Straws
Spoons
Plates
Perfect mug for coffee
Perfect mug for tea
Blankets
Chair
Such a relief when the right object is there!
Familiarity and contentment
Satisfaction when I remember to bring the right straw
Long and bendy
Maybe the good dishes are my everyday dishes
Such annoyance when someone
Moves my object and doesn’t put it back where it belongs
Frustration when they don’t wash out the stains
Or put my blanket in the dryer
Every straw is not my everyday straw
Every mug is not my everyday mug
Every chair is not my everyday chair
My everyday object is specific
And mine
And loved.
