Crip Storytelling with Ophira Calof | Presentation on June 20, 1pm-3pm
June 20 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
This program invites a cross-disability group of participants to explore how we tell our personal stories through a Disability lens. Ophira will lead a presentation session on Crip Storytelling to introduce the topic and give participants some writing or storytelling prompts. The presentation will be followed by the opportunity to join a supportive small group writing lab session where participants are invited to share and workshop their stories.
Presentation on June 20, 1pm-3pm will include ASL to English interpretation and automatic closed captions will be enabled. Please let us know about any other accommodation needs in your registration. The presentation will be recorded and available for two weeks.

We are using broad definitions of “Disability” here with the recognition that not everyone identifies as disabled. We recognize that ableism, audism and sanism can be experienced no matter what your relationship to the term “Disability.” In this program we will honour the language participants use to self-identify.
Why the word Crip? This word is used to challenge, reframe, and reclaim language, systems, stories, and spaces, centering disability and chronic illness identities and experiences.
Small group labs will be:
Wednesday June 22, 1pm-2pm
Tuesday June 28, 7pm-8pm with ASL to English Interpretation
Friday June 24 2pm-3pm
Please select which group you would like to join when you register. Small group lab participation is optional.
If you need support with registration, please contact Rebecca at email@example.com or call 416-599-2458 ext 291
This program is presented by the Centre for Independent Living Toronto and the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre.
