Are you a newcomer in Canada with a disability? Have you been in Canada for 5 years or less? If you answered “yes” to these questions, you are invited to a focus group session on Monday, July 25, from 11:30am to 2pm. At the end of the session you will receive a $20 honorarium and TTC tokens. Over the next two years, OCASI and The Ethno Racial People with Disabilities Coalition of Ontario (ERDCO), will develop and deliver training sessions covering the characteristics of different types of disabilities, the particular needs and challenges of newcomers with disabilities, the current legislation and its application and referral services for newcomers with disabilities. At the same time, the project will focus on building bridges between the settlement and disability sectors by facilitating the creation of partnerships among key players in both fields.
