The McGuinty government is introducing improvements to the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) “to support recipients and their families as they move into the workforce and achieve a higher quality of life.” The improvements, announced February 8th, will fall into the following three categories:
- Find Work
- Keep More of What They Earn
- Move Toward Financial Independence
“It’s time our social assistance system did a better job of supporting people with disabilities who want and are able to work, and reward those who are trying,” said Sandra Pupatello, Minister of Community and Social Services. “Having jobs brings more than financial benefits – it gives people an opportunity to contribute to their communities and helps them fulfill their potential. That leads to a higher quality of life for our clients and their families.”
