Abilities Arts Festival, since 2003, has showcased the work
of artists with disabilities. The festival promotes diversity,
inclusion, and accessibility within the community and our
dynamic and powerful artistic presentations seek to
entertain, engage, enlighten, provoke, and positively
impact attitudes. 2009 events include:
Body Language at Nuit Blanche
Body Language is an outstanding photography exhibit artfully
depicting themes of intimacy, sensuality, sexuality and disability
In Celebration of our Children and Youth
Registration for this event is now full but we are inviting submissions from
school aged children for the Photography Exhibit
Projections Film Forum
The Projections Film Forum opens with a screening of Carts of Darkness,
co-presented with HotDocs. Short film I Go Backwards will also be
screened. Directors Murray Siple (Carts of Darkness) and Tony Diamanti
(I Go Backwards), will both be present for a Q&A following the
screening.
The new “Film Forum Youth Matinee,” presented
by Scotiabank targets youths and young adults
aged 18-28. The Toronto Premiere of feature film
Sledhead will be accompanied by short film
Urban Myth. Members of Canada’s National
Sledge Hockey team featured in Sledhead will
be present for a Q&A following the screening.
Three films will close the Projections Film Forum: feature film
The Last Flight and short films Necessity and White Sound.
Director Yves Langlois (The Last Flight) will be present for a
Q&A following the screening.
