Would you like to join a disability and feminist group that is comprised of women who self-identify as a woman with a disability? Meeting Date: May 3, 2006
Time: 5:30 to 6:30 pm
Location: Women Recreation and Education Centre (WREC), 489 College St. (Bathurst)
Objectives:
Form a DAWNing group comprised of women with cross-disabilities from a diverse and representative group. Identify and invite committed women with cross-disabilities from Toronto to identify their three key priorities. Ensure that the full diversity of women with disabilities are connected and well represented in deciding on DAWN’S priorities and strategies and to ensure that those who participate in deciding on priority issues are committed to advancing these at local, provincial or territorial levels with DAWN guidance and support. Outcome:
DAWN Canada and the Canada-wide DAWNing groups work together at both the local and national level to raise awareness about the issues that are relevant to women with cross-disabilities throughout Canada. DAWNing groups will work together to advance the educational, socioeconomic and political rights of women with disabilities toward effective change. As DAWN Canada works from the grassroots level, local and regional groups are instrumental in the decision making process.
