Access Independent Living, Services in conjunction with the
Centre for Independent Living in Toronto (CILT) Aging With a Disability Project Coordinator
Position type: Part-time; Average of 28 hours per week
Contract ends: March 31, 2015 Reports to: Aging With a Disability Working Group Scope of Position: To lead the research project to conduct 20 peer-led focus groups and to develop a research paper for a multi-disciplinary working group. This Ontario Trillium Foundation funded initiative has numerous deliverables with strict timelines. Key Responsibilities: Outreach to and build relationships with disability focused community organizations in Toronto to facilitate focus group sessions.
Recruit and train 4 focus group peer facilitators.
Recruit 200 focus group participants and educate them on the goals and activities of the project.
Coordinate activities of the project with the Trillium Research Advisory Committee (TRAC).
Responsible for the stewardship of the research project.
Administrative duties as required.
Ensure that data collected from focus groups is contained safely and confidentially.
Responsible for the development of a final research report based on the findings within the focus groups.
Works with the members of TRAC to operationalize the recommendations in the research paper. Qualifications: A minimum of one year experience.
Post secondary education in social/health sciences or equivalent with proven research experience.
Demonstrated written and communications skills.
Understanding of disability issues within an intersectional framework that takes into account race, gender, sexual orientation, age and economic status.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with limited supervision.
Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly with Access and creating database systems
Must be able to travel across the GTA and possibly work between two different locations.
Proven record of working within limited timeframes.
